A place of serenity and beauty

Vera delights in offering what she calls “beauty breaks,” what her visitors experience when they walk through her doors and revel in the sight, feel, sounds and smells of her ever-changing, elegant House Beautiful. She loves to create a sense of calm serenity. Classical music plays softly in the background and there’s always chocolate!

Vera’s House Beautiful is a collaborative, creative effort. Nine other small business owners help fill the shop with clothing, jewelry, knick-knacks, furniture and other vintage decor. “We brainstorm on how best to meet our customers’ needs,” says Vera. Every month, Vera and her associates host a special event.  It might feature wine on the patio, a parking lot “soiree” or other fun activities.

The value of vintage vogue

When Vera talks about her venture, she focuses on the simple elegance and great value that she finds in the vintage vogue style. “It’s a blend of old and new,” she says. “It bestows the feeling of an era gone by, and that era will be recognizable to most ages. It often brings back happy memories. Our goods are ‘up-cycled’ and re-purposed, given new life and meaning.”

Up-cycling life’s challenges

In her career, Vera has played a variety of roles. She has catered, staged homes and sold antiques. She has owned both a real estate company and a property management firm. Most important, she raised a family. In her professional and personal life, she has faced overwhelming challenges and experienced great joys and crushing sorrows. But those who know Vera best would tell you that she is a survivor and overcomer who knows how to “up-cycle” her losses. Vera is a businesswoman and mentor whose mission is multifaceted. Along with re-purposing vintage goods, she likes to encourage those with dreams to up-cycle the intangible relics of past pain in their lives, working to overcome their challenges while finding healing and peace. In the process, they’ll create a new life, filled with meaning and purpose.
